Wood Pulp and Polyester vs Viscose for Pet Drying Towels
Pet drying towels are usually bought on price and rejected on size. The two are connected, but not in the way most quotations imply, because the pet range has five material families and a length list that starts shorter than most buyers expect.
Five families, recorded
The spa and pet range records five material families: viscose, viscose with polyester, cotton, wood pulp with polyester, and wood pulp with polypropylene. The salon range, by contrast, is 100% viscose on both colour records. So a buyer moving from salon towels to pet towels is not choosing between two options — they are choosing within five, and the records do not state which family suits which coat type. That decision is made on samples.
The recorded size range, read honestly
Pet and spa towels are recorded at 40, 50, 60, 70 or 80 cm long and 30 or 40 cm wide. The list starts at 40 × 30 cm, which is a hand-towel proportion — useful for paws, faces and grooming tables, not for wrapping a Labrador. For a full dry on a medium or large dog, the recorded end of the list is the relevant part: 70 or 80 cm long by 40 cm wide. A buyer who orders the small end and expects a full-body dry has ordered the wrong format, and no material change rescues it.
GSM in the pet range
The recorded range is 40 to 130 GSM, wider than the salon range's 50 to 100. The upper end exists because a pet towel often has to take water off a coat rather than off skin, and the lower end exists because a grooming table towel is frequently a surface rather than a dryer. Both are legitimate; they are not the same product.
Why wood pulp appears here and not in the salon range
The two wood-pulp builds are recorded for the spa and pet ranges only. They are part of the discussion set for pet towels, not a general-purpose substitute for viscose across the catalogue. If the requirement is a specific material family, say so in the enquiry, because the substitution that looks equivalent on GSM is not equivalent on fibre.
What the record does not carry
There is no absorbency figure, no drying-time figure and no coat-type recommendation in the product data. Any supplier offering you one of those for a pet towel is either testing it for you or estimating. Ask which.
How to choose a starting point
Run two formats through a real grooming day: a 40 × 30 cm at the low end of the GSM range for detail work, and a 70 × 40 cm at the upper end for the full dry. Keep the folded-bulk pack, since the recorded packing for pet towels is folded bulk and the unit count is confirmed per project. The format that survives a wet morning is the one to specify.
Recorded pet dimensions and materials are on the disposable towels page, with the individual-wrap version under individually packed disposable towels; the grooming workflow is described under dog towels.
